A rolling shutter is a method of capturing images or recording video where the sensor scans the frame one row at a time, rather than all at once. This scanning process can lead to distortions in images, especially when capturing fast-moving subjects or when there's movement during the exposure. In photography, rolling shutter artifacts manifest as skewed lines or warped shapes, particularly noticeable when photographing objects in motion. For example, when photographing a fast-moving car, the car's shape may appear distorted due to the rolling shutter capturing different parts of the car at slightly different times.
